In today's litigious society, people and businesses get sued every day. It is not uncommon to find juries that award verdicts amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Even though most homeowner's insurance, business insurance, auto insurance and farm insurance policies offer some liability coverage, basic coverage will not protect you from a large settlement against you.
To better protect you and your assets, Farm Bureau Insurance offers our South Carolina customers excess liability, or umbrella, policies to meet your specific needs.
Personal Umbrella Policy
Our personal umbrella policy can help protect you, your family and your assets if you are ever sued for an accident or act of negligence. Our personal umbrella policy provides excess liability coverage beyond the liability limits provided in our auto and homeowner policies. It is designed to protect your personal assets once the liability limits of the underlying policy have been exhausted due to a covered loss.
Commercial Umbrella Policy
Our commercial umbrella policy provides excess liability coverage beyond the liability limits provided by the commercial general liability policy or the special multi-peril policy. It is an excess policy; therefore, carrying the underlying commercial general liability policy or the special multi-peril policy is a requirement. It can also be endorsed to cover business-use vehicles.
Farm and Ranch Umbrella Policy
Similar to our commercial umbrella policy, our farm and ranch umbrella provides excess liability coverage for farmers beyond the liability limits provided in the farm general liability policy. It is an excess limits policy; therefore, carrying the underlying farm general liability policy is a requirement. This umbrella policy can also provide additional liability protection in the event of a serious at-fault accident involving farm trucks or other licensed vehicles.
