She has a masters in hospitality management from the University of South Carolina. She has an entrepreneurial spirit having owned and operated her own business and founding a local chamber of commerce. She has a story to tell that will beneficial to those she serves.
Shellie West Hodges has spent most of her life in the Lowcountry. She has experience in different avenues of business. She was the first of five to graduate with a master’s degree in hospitality management from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.
Her career has encompassed hotel and restaurant management, country club management, paper and chemical sales and marketing as well as boat manufacturing, employee management for a mid-sized linen supply company, and office management for general contracting. In 2010, Shellie started her own business called the Bluffton Business Club to assist the small business community and to provide valuable resources for both the profit and not-for-profit worlds. In 2012, she founded and developed the Greater Bluffton Chamber of Commerce.
She has served her community as the chief executive officer of the chamber, as a Bluffton Rotarian and board member, and she has served on the board of directors for the Technical College of the Lowcountry Foundation. Shellie has made her mark in the community as a relationship builder, humanitarian and an advocate for small business. She has proven to be resourceful and is here to be of service.
