Health Plan Transparency

The Transparency in Coverage Rule requires employers to post on a website, accessible by the public, a link to machine-readable files maintained by the employer's group health plan carrier.  A machine-readable file is a digital file of information that can be imported or read into a computer system for further processing. Two files will be available. One file reports published negotiated rates for all covered items and services between the plan and in-network providers. The second file reports historical payments to, and billed charges from, out-of-network providers.
