Dwelling Fire Insurance
Although not as comprehensive as our homeowner's policies, our dwelling fire
policy may be the right policy for your home insurance needs. Many people may
not need all of the coverages that are provided in our homeowner's policies.
The dwelling fire policy is for these homeowners as well as for people who own
rental houses. The dwelling fire policy does not automatically include
liability coverage or medical payments coverage. These coverages must be added
by endorsement.
Dwelling Protection: Protects the dwelling on the residence premises.
This could be where the named insured resides or may be a dwelling rented to
another person.
Protection for Other Structures: Provides protection for the insured's
other structures on the residence premises set apart from the dwelling by clear
space. Coverage is limited to the amount specified in the policy and in the
Declarations.
Personal Property Protection: Provides protection for personal property
usual or incidental to the occupancy of the residence premises as a dwelling
and owned or used by an insured, subject to limitations as specified in the
policy and Declarations.
Loss of Use: One of the coverages available under Loss of Use coverage is
payment for Additional Living Expense. Additional Living Expense coverage
provides payment for the necessary increase in living expenses incurred by you
if your home becomes uninhabitable due to a covered loss. Payment is limited as
defined in the policy. For rental dwellings, this becomes Fair Rental Value
Coverage.
Endorsements: We have several endorsements available to personalize your
Dwelling Fire policy to meet your specific needs.
Liability: Provides protection for an insured's activities for accidental
bodily injury and property damage to a third party for which the insured is
legally liable. The insured may choose between personal (owner occupied) or
landlord's liability coverage according to their needs.
Theft: Provides theft coverage for owner occupied dwellings, since this
coverage is excluded on an unendorsed dwelling fire policy.
Deductibles
The deductible is the amount of the loss for which you are responsible.
There are also other available coverage options to further customize your
insurance plan. For more information, please contact your local
South Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Companies agent.
This information is only a general description of the available coverages and is
